Our Founders: Visionaries of positive change
The Society for Amelioration of Rural Communities and Households (SARCH) owes its inception to a group of passionate visionaries, the founders who ignited the flame of transformation with a shared commitment to making a difference in rural communities. Their collective vision, unwavering dedication, and belief in the power of research and innovation have set the organization on a path to effecting meaningful and lasting change.
These founders are more than just the architects of SARCH; they are the driving force that propels our mission forward. They share a common belief in the potential for progress and the capacity for rural communities to flourish when given the right tools and support. Here, we celebrate the remarkable individuals who laid the foundation for SARCH:
Makshuda Rahman
President, SARCH
Ms. Makshuda Rahman previously worked as a researcher at both BRAC and ICDDR,B.
She was also a member of the Pencil Foundation. In that capacity, she, along with seven other members, led the ‘Pencil Sapling Plantation Program’ in Rajshahi in 2020, organized by the Pencil Foundation.
Currently, she is the President of the Saleha Foundation, an unregistered, voluntary, non-profit, charitable organization based in Kurigram, Bangladesh.
In addition, she is the administrator of the Anthropology Charity Club (University of Rajshahi), an online-based voluntary organization that undertakes philanthropic and charitable activities in different regions of Bangladesh and awards the ‘Raasheed Mahmood Memorial Scholarship’ to poor, meritorious, and deserving Bangladeshi students.
She is also a published short-story writer, with work appearing in both domestic and international magazines.
Ms. Rahman is now serving as an educator, working with parents and young children in the early childhood education program, Hippy Australia, which is funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Social Services.

Nasrin Akter Mila
Vice President, SARCH
Ms. Nasrin Akter Mila is a young entrepreneur who previously ran a voluntary project in Rajshahi in collaboration with The Magnets, an export-import business firm based in the same district, to empower rural women through the sewing training program. This program provided sewing training to numerous rural unemployed women to help them earn their living and pay for the expenses of their children’s education.
She is currently the Managing Partner of The Magnets.
She also serves as a Director of the Bangladesh Handicraft Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BANGLACRAFT).
In addition, she is an active member of a number of national and international associations, including the Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC), WEConnect International, and ITC SheTrades Commonwealth.
Recently, she has been awarded by WEConnect International for her endeavors as a young female entrepreneur.

Md. Masudur Rahman
Secretary General, SARCH
Mr. Md. Masudur Rahman is an entrepreneur with around 40 years of experience in the areas of construction, export-import, and supply businesses.
Mr. Rahman is the owner of M/S. Brothers Corporation, a construction proprietorship, and a partner of The Magnets, an export-import firm.
Previously, he served as the President of Rajshahi District Chess Association; Member of Rajshahi District Sports Association; Executive Member of Rajshahi Metropolitan Krira Sangstha; President of Seroil Sporting Club; Founder and Vice President of Willow Cricket Club; and President of Cricket Clinic, Rajshahi.
In 2019, he was awarded ‘Sher-E-Bangla A. K. Fazlul Haq Smrity Padak-2019’ by the Bangladesh Sammilita Sangskritik Society, and in 2014, ‘The Human Rights Gold Medal-2014’ by the National Human Rights Society in recognition of his outstanding philanthropic and charitable activities.
Currently, he is a member of the Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries and an advisor to Seroil Sporting Club, Rajshahi, Bangladesh.

Md. Imamunur Rahman
Joint Secretary, SARCH
Mr. Md. Imamunur Rahman is an Assistant Professor of Law and the Proctor at Z. H. Sikder University of Science and Technology, Shariatpur, Bangladesh, and also an Advocate of the Rajshahi District Court, Bangladesh.
